Most child care programs require families to provide diapers; without them, children can be turned away for the day. Researchers and national networks have documented this reality for years. In fact, a national brief notes that 25% of parents with diaper need missed an average of five days of work or school in the past month because they didn’t have enough diapers to drop children off.
In Maryland, the cost of diapers is typically $80–$100 per month, and while TANF offers crucial cash support, that cash must stretch across rent, utilities, transportation, clothing, and more—leaving little for diapers. When we supply diapers, we’re not just meeting a hygiene need; we’re enabling parents to attend work and securing children’s consistent early learning.
Blessed Provisions, Frederick County’s only exclusive diaper bank, is proud to announce its 1st Annual Community Diaper Drive, taking place during National Diaper Need Awareness Week. The event will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the C. Burr Artz Public Library – Trust Conference Room, located at 101 E. Patrick St., Frederick, MD 21701. Nationally, 1 in 2 U.S. families with young children cannot afford enough diapers to keep their infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. The public is encouraged to bring donations of diapers in all sizes (including pull-ups), wipes, and feminine hygiene products (e.g.,pads or tampons).
“Our mission at Blessed Provisions is to ensure no family in Frederick County has to go without basic hygiene essentials. This drive is not just about diapers—it’s about dignity and community care.” -Priscilla Myles, Founder of Blessed Provisions, Inc.
