In Frederick County, Maryland, rising living costs, income disparities, and gaps in the social safety net are creating a growing crisis in basic needs—especially access to diapers and hygiene essentials. Families already burdened by food insecurity or high housing costs are being forced to make impossible choices: Do I buy diapers this week, or do I pay the rent?
These unmet needs have far-reaching consequences. Without an adequate supply of clean diapers, children face greater health risks, parents experience higher stress levels, and many struggle to maintain stable employment. Nationally, 1 in 2 families with young children experience “diaper need”—the inability to afford enough diapers to keep a child clean, dry, and healthy.
From Annual Drives to a Year-Round Mission
In 2021, moved by the overwhelming need in her community, Priscilla Myles, Founder and Executive Director of Blessed Provisions, began hosting annual diaper drives through her local ministry. Over the years, these efforts placed thousands of diapers and menstrual products into the hands of social agencies and families across Frederick.
Discovering the Gap
After stepping away from her federal career supporting health centers nationwide, Priscilla was astonished that: Frederick County did not have a single dedicated diaper bank—despite the growing demand for basic hygiene items.
Birthed from Purpose
In July 2025, Blessed Provisions Inc. was born as a nonprofit organization committed to closing that gap. Today, we proudly serve as Frederick County’s only exclusive diaper and hygiene bank, dedicated to supplying diapers, wipes, menstrual products, and other toiletry essentials to Maryland families experiencing hygiene poverty.
Our mission is simple but urgent: No family in our community should have to choose between keeping their child clean and paying their bills.
